The activities & athletics program contributes to the district’s educational objectives and a student-centered program at Petersburg High School and Mitkof Middle School. Winning is a major objective in athletics as it is in society, and teams or performers should always strive to win within the framework and spirit of the rules of the game and the principles of good sportsmanship.

More important than winning is the growth that takes place in the participant. Participation in activities and athletics contributes to becoming a well-rounded citizen with a desire to achieve excellence, live a more healthful and purposeful life, respect the dignity of others, possess a willingness to make a personal sacrifice for the benefit of the team, and to live by a higher code of conduct.

Petersburg School District and Mitkof Middle School traditionally offer numerous academic and athletic activities for students to be involved in. The Petersburg School District Activities/Athletics Department inspires champions today and prepares leaders for tomorrow by providing an excellent environment that allows students to achieve their highest academic, activity & athletic, and personal aspirations.

Travel Policy for Mitkof Middle School

MMS Travel policy is that students that meet eligibility requirements are allowed to travel to no more than one (1) away event per activity.

*Please note that activity fees support administrative expenses, such as coach’s stipends, judges, referees, equipment, etc., for each activity, so, therefore, are non-refundable. An Activity Fee Cap of $700.00 is in place per household for both MMS and PHS Activities. All forms must be on file and fees paid before a student can participate in the activity. 

Home School Students are required to enroll in a minimum of one (1) course at Mitkof Middle School in order to participate in any activity sponsored through Mitkof Middle School. Home School Students are required to complete the Home School Checklist forms for all Activities. Please contact the Activities Office at 1-877-526-7656 for information.

The Petersburg School District has moved to an online activity/athletic forms registration for all activities at Mitkof Middle School. All forms are to be submitted online. All participants must enroll using planetHS to register for activities. These forms are required prior to any participation in any activity. Visit www.planetHS.com to begin the process.
