Viking Hoop Camp for players K-12th grade will be Thursday August 28 - Saturday August 29th. Pick up a camp application at Parks and Rec or the school district office or download for printing at this link. 3rd - 12th grade or Kinder-2nd Grade

PURPOSE: The purpose of the camp is to provide basic skills instruction and team building exercises.

ELIGIBILITY: All boys and girls currently in Kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible.

REGISTRATION: Tuition for the camp is $15 -$60 per participant, depending on age group, see your registration form for specific price. Make checks payable to Petersburg School District or PHS. Registration should be done prior to camp, and may be completed by bringing the attached registration form and money to Rick Brock.

COACHING: Coach Ostanik brings 32 years of coaching experience to the court, including 12 years at the collegiate level. During his first tenure as men’s basketball coach at the University of Alaska Coach Ostanik led the Nanooks to an NCAA Sweet 16 and a GNAC Championship. In 2006-07 he was voted the GNAC Coach of the Year and his three-year record of 55-32 still ranks as the highest winning percentage in UAF school history. This past season Coach O led the Nanooks to a 14-14 record and a birth in the conference tournament for the first time since 2020. Prior to returning to the Nanooks, Coach O compiled a 369-85 record and helped guide the Monroe Catholic Rams to four state titles. Coach Ostanik created the Alaska Basketball Academy (ABA) as a means to conduct low-cost basketball camps throughout the state. Coach Ostanik is a well sought after clinician & teacher of the fundamentals of basketball. “It is our goal at the Alaska Basketball Academy to ensure that every child learns how to play the game of basketball and develops a love of the game they will carry with them through their life.”
