Our LEGO robotics team has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming state competition in just a couple of weeks. This past week, they had an exciting opportunity to collaborate with researchers from Oregon State University, who had visited last summer to study LeConte Glacier using their own ROVs. The 8th graders engaged in a brainstorming session, incorporating valuable feedback from the researchers to enhance the design and functionality of their own ROV. We’re thrilled to see their creativity and determination in action and can’t wait to cheer them on when they head to state!

Greetings Petersburg Staff and Families,
On Tuesday, January 7, our school district was informed by our student information system provider, PowerSchool, of a large data breach that impacted their company. This morning I learned that our district is one of dozens across the world whose information is part of that breach.
It is important to note that our district was not individually targeted and PowerSchool has provided assurance that the compromised data was deleted and that no additional copies of the data currently exist. They will be providing us with additional information on January 17 which I will pass on to you.
The privacy and security of student and staff data is a top priority of our district. We will continue to monitor this situation carefully and keep you informed as we learn more.

🎄Baking Club was feeling festive this week and attempted to make Christmas Oreo bites. Melting white chocolate definitely got the best of some groups but fun was had by all and the treats were delicious. So that's a win in our books🎄
