PHS & MMS will return to in-person school on Tuesday, October 5th on regular schedules, an ODD day in PHS. MS Picture Day will happen on Wednesday, October 6th, as well as HS students who missed the first day of pictures.

UPDATE: The PSD Health Advisory Team met this afternoon to assess the level of community spread, including impacted staff and students who have tested positive for Covid or are considered close contacts. We continue to send positive energy to all of our staff, students, and families who are dealing with Covid at this time. Our staffing levels are still very tight, particularly in the secondary schools, but we believe we can continue in-person learning at Stedman Elementary (Monday, Oct. 4), and resume in-person learning at the Middle and High School beginning Tuesday, Oct. 5 (MS/HS remote Oct. 4). This will allow the majority of our students on quarantine to return in person, and will allow a buffer day on Monday to confirm that we have enough staff to adequately supervise all classrooms after the weekend case counts come in. Every action that is taken in our school and community directly impacts our ability to offer and maintain safe, in-person learning and extracurricular activities for our students. We need everyone’s help to make this happen. Thank you for your support! Continue to check your email, Facebook, and pcsd.us website throughout the weekend for specific building information, schedules, and updates. Staff and student health and safety will remain at the forefront of any decisions that are made.

Reminder: No school district wide Friday Oct 1 , it's a Teacher In-service day.

URGENT: Due to the continuing increase in Covid positive cases related to secondary school staff and students, with extensive contact tracing efforts underway, Mitkof Middle School and Petersburg High School ONLY will move to remote learning for the remainder of the day (Sept. 28). The buses will be available for student pick up starting at 11:05 am and students may grab a lunch on the way out. Stedman Elementary School will remain in session at this time. Check your email, Facebook, and pcsd.us website for specific building information and schedules or if the closure will last longer.

In late August, school districts were notified by the Department of Education that they would be involved in identifying and notifying close contacts of known positive Covid cases in the schools, due to the increased number of positive cases in the state overall. Identified school administrative staff work in conjunction with Public Health to determine circumstances for exposure, but Public Health will not be interviewing/monitoring school identified close contacts in these situations. Public Health will still interview all positive cases and any close contacts identified outside of the school settings. This is a departure from how things were done last year, so we appreciate your continued patience as we work through this public health process in our school setting. If you have specific questions or concerns about this new change to procedure, or would like to discuss close contact determinations for your child, please contact Public Health directly at 772-4611 or contact building/district administration.

We have been notified of several students who have recently tested positive for Covid. The District will return to universal masking (red status) while contact tracing efforts are underway. At this point, there are no school or classroom closures and we will remain in person. If your child is a close contact, you will be notified by the school. HS activity practices are cancelled for today. Please monitor your email, One Call text, and social media for updates.
